The One Piece Wood Bat
Phi Bats
A light, strong, and perfectly balanced one-piece bat made from Alaskan Cedar.
Phi Bat Review
At the Phi Bat Company, we believe that our bat can outperform our competition. Our bat is designed to make batters swing faster and hit the ball further. Recently, the Phi Bat was put to the test versus an industry leading competitor’s bat by one of our customers Ryan Simpson @Ryan_Simpson using enhanced Swingtracker technology from Diamond Kinetics @Diamondkinetics. Two metrics were tracked during the test, Barrel Speed and Impact Momentum.
The Phi Bat Difference
A Work of Art with Explosive Pop
We handcraft each Phi Bat, starting only with billets of Alaskan Yellow Cedar with end grain ring counts up to 28 per inch. Skilled craftsmen turn each bat with CNC lathes ensuring consistent uniformity, where the bats are hand-boned compressing the pores of the wood, adding strength, creating greater density. The Phi Bat & BBCOR logos are applied with branding irons and the bats are finished with multiple coats of durable conversion varnish. Alaskan Yellow Cedar imparts a warm amber glow against the burned tones in the branded logos, contrasting with the stained graphite color handle and tapered midsection. The result is a work of art with some seriously explosive pop.
Unleash Your Potential
Innovative Design
A light, strong, and perfectly balanced one-piece bat made from Alaskan Cedar.
Golden Ratio
The Golden Ratio, also known as Phi, is said to be the natural harmonic balance of all living and organic matter, the divine proportion. It is also the basis for the design of all Phi Bats. When the midsection length or diameter are divided into either the handle, barrel length, or diameter the result is 1.618 or Phi.
Each Phi Bat model supports a larger diameter handle than other wood or aluminum bats, having the feel of a tennis racket handle. This allows for more precise control through each phase of the swing.
Optimized Weight
Thanks to the Patent Pending design and the lightweight Alaskan Yellow Cedar, Phi Bats are uniquely light, strong, and perfectly balanced.
Enhanced Sweet Spot
All 6 models have a large sweet zone approximately 2 inches above the beginning of the barrel near the Phi symbol.
BBCOR Certified
BBCOR is currently the standard that governs adult baseball bats that are used in High School and Collegiate play. Phi Bat models that are BBCOR certified with a drop weight of -3 or heavier include the 33″- PB331.6, 33″- ELPB331.6, 31.5″- PB31.51.6 ,& the 30″- PB301.6 model.

Alaskan Yellow Cedar
Alaskan Yellow Cedar is a strong resilient wood used for centuries in boat building and musical instruments. It boasts a high density with an end-grain ring count of 18 to 28 rings per inch. Compared to other wood types, Alaskan Yellow Cedar has 18% more whip than Ash with an average of 30% less weight of Maple.
A Precision Tool
The Phi Bat is a precision tool designed for the job of striking a baseball or softball where the diameter of the handle design for all current models is turned for the age of the player and the average grip size of their hands. The handle size and relatively lighter swing weight allow for micro-second adjustments during the pull forward phase of the swing and gives the batter a critical fraction of a second moment longer to judge the ball during the wrist torque launching phase. All 6 models have a large sweet zone beginning approx. 2 inches above the beginning of the barrel, a perfect balance of strength, comfort, and control requiring a minimum amount of force to meet and launch the ball toward the intended spot on the field, beyond the diamond or fence! One might consider this bat a hybrid of old and new schools in bat design, wherein the era of Joe Di Maggio, Lou Gehrig, and Ty Cobb baseball bats supported larger diameter handles and barrels turned from White Ash, Hickory or Maple, this bat could weigh as much as 42 oz. for a 34” bat. Modern 34” Aluminum bats can weigh as little as 31 oz. and where the BBCOR certified Phi Bat models’ PB331.6 & ELPB331.6, both 33’ bats carry weights of -2, & -3 with an MOI rating of 8300 / PB331.6 & 10000 / ELPB331.6.
